Audio Format Support[]
I would like to point out what cables can support what formats:
- RCA - Stereo (aka PCM/LPCM 2.0)
- TOSLink/Optical, Digital Coax/SPDIF, & HDMI ARC - PCM 2.0, Dolby Digital 5.1, & DTS 5.1
- Regular HDMI - All above & Uncompressed Audio (aka LPCM 5.1, Dolby TrueHD 5.1, DTS Master Audio 5.1, etc.)

The Soundbar 900 can support LPCM 5.1 when using an eARC connection. It is only possible to get LPCM 5.1 when using an eARC connection. You would only get LPCM 2.0 with a standard HDMI-ARC connection, as multichannel PCM support requires an eARC HDMI connection.
The Soundbar 900 can support Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1, LPCM 2.0, and some versions of Dolby Atmos audio formats using an Optical or ARC connection. It can also support Dolby TrueHD, full Dolby Atmos support, LPCM 5.1, and Dolby MAT 5.1 when using an eARC connection. You would only get LPCM 2.0 with a standard HDMI-ARC connection, as multichannel PCM support requires an eARC HDMI connection.[5]
If your TV supports eARC and your using HDMI:
- You should enable the eARC mode on your TV (if required) and change all audio settings on your 3rd party devices (like a Blu-ray player) to PCM or LPCM for DTS. Since this system supports all Dolby formats. If your 3rd party device supports this feature, you can also send Bitstream for Dolby & PCM/LPCM for DTS.
If your TV supports ARC, and not eARC, or if you are using Optical:
- then you should change all audio settings on your 3rd party devices to Bitstream or Dolby and avoid PCM or LPCM sound options. You should avoid DTS as well.
So make sure that your device is properly set up to output in those formats. Please check your device's settings as sometimes you need to enable 5.1. It isn't always that easy for people to understand what a device means when it says Bitstream, PCM, etc for the audio settings. Each manufacture seems to have its own way of labelling it. So please check that device's manual to make sure it is in the correct mode.
AdaptIQ[]
Main article: AdaptIQ
The key feature of the system is the ADAPTiQ audio calibration system, which allows for the system to adapt to the owner's personal living room environment. The system plays tones through each speaker and listens with a microphone headset worn by the user, and based on what it "hears", the media center will calibrate and equalize each speaker to compensate for any acoustic abnormalities in the room. In this manner, any system will sound the same in any living room as the professional demonstration.
